The Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame’s newest inductees are European champion El Gran Senor and the brilliant filly Caesar’s Wish. The selections were made by a committee of Maryland racing industry members coordinated by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) and Maryland Racing Media Association (MRMA). Read more 

A celebration to recognize this year’s class of inductees will take place at Laurel Park on Maryland Pride Day on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Maryland-breds at Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Led by a $600,000 Medaglia d'Oro filly out of multiple graded stakes winner Daring Dancer, a total of 16 Maryland-bred yearlings exited the ring as sold at Keeneland’s mammoth September Yearling Sale, held Sept. 10-23 in Lexington, Ky. Selling for a combined $2.3 million, the Maryland-bred average was $143,813 (the sale’s overall average was $129,331), and median $82,500 (compared to $50,000 for the entire sale).

A Lifetime Tribute: Maryland Hall of Fame honors Boniface

Longtime horseman Bill Boniface fully supports recent changes to revive the Maryland horseracing industry. He particularly likes a measure that awards a $500,000 bonus to the connections of a Maryland-bred Preakness winner. He would like to see one amendment, however.
