Morgans Ford Farm’s 3-year-old filly Crabcakes, facing older horses for the second straight race, extended her win streak to three in the $100,000 Maryland Million Distaff on Oct. 21 at Laurel Park.

Crabcakes winning 2017 Maryland Million DistaffSet off as the 1-5 favorite, the daughter of Northview Stallion Station sire Great Notion has now won six of her 10 lifetime starts, three of them stakes. Bred by the late Binnie Houghton of Buckingham Farm, the Maryland-bred filly is trained by Bernie Houghton. Read more about the running of the Maryland Million Distaff here

2018 Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame inductees selected

The Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame’s newest inductees are European champion El Gran Senor and the brilliant filly Caesar’s Wish. The selections were made by a committee of Maryland racing industry members coordinated by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) and Maryland Racing Media Association (MRMA). Read more 

A celebration to recognize this year’s class of inductees will take place at Laurel Park on Maryland Pride Day on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Maryland Horse Industry Foundation is 30!

October 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the Maryland Horse Industry Foundation. Marking the celebration is a fundraising campaign, the 30 for 30 Campaign, to support the MHIF’s growing menu of educational programs. Read more
