Richard Golden’s homebred Clever Mind made an auspicious career debut Oct. 21 at Laurel Park, rallying from last to capture the $100,000 Maryland Million Nursery by 2 lengths.



Clever Mind wins 2017 Maryland Million NurseryA Graham Motion-trained juvenile son of Northview Stallion Station’s freshman sire Buffum, Clever Mind is out of Two’s Cozy, dam of 2016 Maryland-bred champion steeplechaser Top Striker. Clever Mind was offered at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearling sale, but returned home a $100,000 RNA.

The Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame’s newest inductees are European champion El Gran Senor and the brilliant filly Caesar’s Wish. The selections were made by a committee of Maryland racing industry members coordinated by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) and Maryland Racing Media Association (MRMA). Read more

Maryland Horse Industry Foundation is 30!

October 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the Maryland Horse Industry Foundation. Marking the celebration is a fundraising campaign, the 30 for 30 Campaign, to support the MHIF’s growing menu of educational programs. Read more
