The Ocala Breeders' Spring sale, held April 25-28 in Ocala, Fla., saw six Maryland-breds go through the ring, with four selling.
A dark bay or brown filly by Divining Rod, out of the Speightstown mare Island Bound (Hip 548), sold for $350,000 to Bradley Thoroughbreds LLC, agent. She was consigned by Best a Luck Farm LLC, Agent VIII, and breezed an eighth of a mile in 9 4/5.
Bred by Katharine Voss, this filly is a half-sister to four winners, including Maryland-bred 2021 Breeders' Cup Sprint-G1 champion Aloha West (Hard Spun). Island Bound has also produced winners Island Getaway (Animal Kingdom), Noble Way (Noble Mission), and Moquist (Nyquist). This filly previously sold for $60,000 to Mike Trombetta at last October's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearling Sale.

Hip 460, a gray or roan filly by Arrogate, out of the Candy Ride (Arg) mare Hay Dilly, sold for $250,000 to Mike Ryan, agent for Peter Redekop BC Ltd. She breezed an eighth of a mile in 10 2/5. Bred by Timothy Rooney, this is one of two foals for Hay Dilly; the other is an unnamed yearling colt by Frosted. Hay Dilly won one time from five starts, with earnings of $31,000, and is a half-sister to graded stakes winners Basin (Liam's Map) and Rise Up (Rockport Harbor).
The Maryland-breds sold for an average of $156,750, compared to the sale average of $130,021.
