Key's Discount got his season officially underway at the Middleburg Spring Races at the Glenwood Park course in Virginia on Saturday, April 18, dominating the $30,000 Middleburg Hunt Cup, a three and quarter mile contest over timber.
Owned by Dolly Fisher, trained by Jack Fisher and ridden by jockey Graham Watters, the 7-year-old son of Medal Count faced only two rivals. He took the lead early and never gave it up, running away to a 34 1/2-length score over Track And Trace (Ire) and stopping the clock in 6:43.40.
Keys Discount has won six sanctioned stakes in a row, a streak that began with last year's running of the Middleburg Hunt Cup, his first career stakes win. In his last three starts, he's won by an average of 18 lengths.

Last year's Maryland-bred champion steeplechaser, Keys Discount was bred by Bryan Minnich and is the last of 10 foals, all winners, out of the unraced Rizzi mare Divertimento. He was sold for $2,000 as a yearling at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall sale to Gordon C. Keys.
Keys Discount launched his career for Keys in March 2022 on the flat at Laurel, with his best finish a second on the turf that July from four starts, before he was given a try over hurdles at Shawan Downs in September. Fighting for the lead late, he wound up second. That would be his best effort in four hurdle starts.
Debuting for the Fishers in May 2024, he has made nine timber starts, recording seven wins and a third. His only non-finish was when he lost his rider early in the Genesee Valley Hunt Cup in October 2024.
Keys Discount's record is 17-7-2-1, with $201,966 in career earnings, $186,000 from his timber starts.
