Quint's Brew's first start at his home track, Delaware Park, was a victorious one as Paul Berube, Karen Linnell and Heather Hunter's 5-year-old homebred took the $100,000 Alapocas Run Stakes by a half length on Saturday, June 13, for his fourth stakes victory of 2026.
Under jockey Forest Boyce for trainer Ned Allard, Quint's Brew began the six-furlong sprint by sitting behind the pack as Haileysfirstnotion and Just Beat the Odds led through an opening quarter-mile in :22.14 and the half in :45.34.
Hard held and struggling to find an opening along the rail, Boyce and the son of Mosler were still in fifth at the top of the stretch before finding a seam and splitting rivals. With a furlong to run and the leaders not giving an inch, Quint's Brew turned on his engine to run down his opponents and top a Maryland-bred exacta with favorite Haileysfirstnotion, stopping the clock in 1:10.08. Haileysfirstnotion had run third in his previous start, the Grade 3 Maryland Sprint Stakes on Preakness Day at Laurel. Sent off at his longest odds in more than a year, Quint's Brew paid $12.60 for the win.
"He showed us another dimension today," said his winning trainer. "He is used to running in races without much speed and being up a little bit close. Today he really showed another dimension. I thought it was wonderful and they went in 1:10, so that was a very good race. He is such an honest and consistent horse, so I am not surprised he got back to winning coming off his last race."
The victory was Quint's Brew's sixth in a stakes. A winner in his first two starts at 3, both at Laurel, Quint's Brew has raced solely in stakes competition in 12 starts since, finishing worse than third just once. He also boasts scores in the 2025 Jennings and General George.
His stakes-placings include near-miss seconds at Aqueduct in the 2025 Grade 2 Carter and Grade 3 Westchester, by a neck and a half length, respectively. He finished third behind Point Dume and Blue Kingdom in the General George in February this year.
Winning this year's Jennings by a nose in January and the Not For Love Stakes by a neck in March, Quint's Brew cruised home a five and three-quarter-length winner in the Frank Y. Whiteley Stakes at seven furlongs in April, all at Laurel Park. Shipped to Aqueduct, he ran fourth in the one-mile Westchester Stakes-G3 in early May. With earnings of $631,740, Quint's Brew's career record now stands at 14-8-4-1.
Quint's Brew is out of the Jump Start mare Gansett, purchased by Berube under DP Racing (Berube and Linnell) as a 2-year-old for $13,500 at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May sale. After winning twice and earning $56,273, Gansett became her owners' first broodmare and has produced three winners from three starters, all six-figure earners by Mosler, including stakes-placed turf mare Touisset. Her current 2-year-old, a colt by Holy Boss named Hi Neighbor, has yet to start. She didn't produce a foal in 2025 after returning to Mosler, but delivered a Cyberknife filly on April 10 this year.
