Among the new arrivals over the past few weeks at Shamrock Farm in Woodbine are first-crop foals by Shamrock stallions Nicanor and the farm’s newest stallion, Baltimore Bob.

The first Maryland-bred Nicanor baby was born on the evening of Saturday, March 1, to the Outflanker mare My Little Josie. The bay filly, bred by David DiPietro, is her stakes-placed dam’s fourth foal.

Baltimore Bob is the sire of two foals born at Shamrock, both bred by Robert Gerczak. The first, a colt delivered on Saturday, Feb. 15, is also the first foal for the Stormy Atlantic mare Ducky McLean. Six days later, Freeway Fun (by Awesome Again) produced a Baltimore Bob colt. Nicanor, a full brother to Kentucky Derby-G1 winner Barbaro, was bred to 22 mares in 2013.

The 8-year-old son of Dynaformer was a stakes-placed runner of $147,697 and is also a full brother to stakes winners Lentenor and Margano, and a half-brother to stakes winner Holy Ground.

Multiple stakes winner Baltimore Bob, a son of Malibu Moon from the immediate family of recent stakes winners Action Andy and Baltimore Belle, stood his first season in Florida before moving to Maryland this year. Owned by Gerczak, he covered five mares in his test season last year. His stud fee is $3,000 live foal.
