Maggi Moss’s Delaunay, Horse of the Meet last season at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots but absent from competition for almost six months, proved the best once more on Saturday, Jan. 25 in the $60,000 F. W. Gaudin Memorial, beating arch rival Gantry by three and a quarter lengths.

A Weekend of Open Houses

We spent the majority of our weekend in beautiful Chesapeake City, Maryland. If you didn't know, Chesapeake City is a hot spot for stallions in Maryland. Both Northview Stallion Station and the brand new for 2014 Heritage Stallions hosted open houses on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

A visit to New Jersey

Country Life Farm vanned their freshman stallion Freedom Child to Cream Ridge, N.J., on Sunday, Jan. 12 to take part in the Birch Creek Farm Stallion Show. This might be the first time a new stallion has taken his show on the road.

Notes from the President: An Afternoon Off

For two hours on a Thursday before Christmas, 40 students of the Maryland horse industry enjoyed an afternoon off from the daily grind, to attend a two-hour refresher course on racing and breeding in Maryland. The "class" consisted of the boards of directors of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association and the Maryland Million Ltd.

Full fields set for Jameela, Ben's Cat at Laurel Park Sunday

Play Harder wins Star De Naskra via DQ

Play Harder has a reputation for getting involved in dramatic finishes, and he maintained that reputation in the Star De Naskra Staks Saturday, June 29 at Laurel Park, where he crossed the wire second by a nose, but was elevated to first thanks to a disqualification.
